for our Special Guest’s.
(Posted on the Bulletin Board in the Kitchen)

Each year Grand Cayman play host to visitors from all over the world and we'd love to "Welcome" you to our beautiful island as well. Grand Cayman provides a cosmopolitan experience with luxurious properties and a diversity of restaurants and facilities and also is well know for their underwater beauty, many activities and is also home to some of the friendliest people in the world.

A large percentage of our visitors to our "Island House" are repeats, drawn back by fond memories of the great vacation they had, and to see their newfound, or old, Caymanians friends. We hope you will have great memories also and no doubt you also will make many friends who you will look forward to seeing again, year after year.

If at any time you have questions or need help please contact, Thelda Whittaker, Managing Director of North Coast Resort Management, which is located about a mile down the road on the right hand side as you leave Rum Point. Phone number is 947-9266.

Information & Requests to our Guests...

Due to the high Caribbean humidity, Island bug infestation, precious fresh water supply and high cost of electricity, this information, reminder’s and request’s we feel will assist in your stay at our Island House and make it more enjoyable for you, our special guests.

1.     Due to the Island’s bugs, mosquito’s and ants, it is important that all doors remain closed and food be kept in sealed tight containers at all times (ants appear very quickly on the counters or tables looking for food particles exposed on surfaces inside or outside the house on the lanai area).  All food, chips, etc. should be kept in sealed containers even when stored in the kitchen cabinets.

2.     “Fresh Water” is very precious on the Island. We just ask you to please try to conserve as much water as possible when taking showers, shaving, brushing teeth, washing dishes and doing laundry.

3.     “Drinking water” is usually available in the refrigerator or utility room or you may purchase additional water at the supermarkets or the local convenience store down the road. We have installed a filtration system on the faucet and can filter your water for drinking, making coffee, tea, etc.

4.     “Electricity” is very expensive on the Island. Our Island House was designed to take advantage of the Caribbean breezes so with the windows in the front along with the two ten foot sliding glass doors in the back there is usually a very pleasant breeze for your comfort through the entire first floor level. We ask that when not using the main floor and bedroom air conditioners that you turn them off. We have just installed new air conditioners and they are more than capable of cooling in a very short period of time once you turn them on. Also when not using the lights or ceiling fans on the lanai, dining room and the bedrooms please turn them off. The ceiling fan in the living room we suggest you kept on your entire stay, since it helps with air circulation along with the breezes for the first floor. All ceiling fans have controls on the walls for speed adjustment. The light switch for the lights on the lanai is on the inside wall in the dining room.

5.     In case of a power outage, there are also two large flashlights in the utility room) please refrain from using any water during that time (this would include flushing toilets). Water usage during an electrical failure will result in a pump re-priming procedure under the house. (Please contact our Management Company to perform this for you.)

6.     The pool in the back yard is for owners and their guests use only. The Island sun is extremely intensive” and goes un-noticed with the island breeze. Please utilize the sun block of your choice, to eliminate severe sunburn which would ruin the balance of you time staying here. You will be glad you did.

7.     There are beach & pool towels, card games, first aid kit in the closet off the dining room.

8.     KAYAK USE- if you have signed and returned a “Hold Harmless Agreement” prior to arrival you have full access to the new Kayak located under the lanai. Please use the combination that was supplied to you to unlock the lock. (If you haven’t signed an agreement and would like to have use of the kayak, please contact Thelda Whittaker at North Coast Management which is just down the street about one mile on the right hand side and she will have you sign a “Hold Harmless Agreement” and give you the combination. The oars, seats, along with yellow safety belts are in the shed on the side of the house. We suggest that you always launch the kayak at the dock area by the pool. There are sometimes a lot of “jellyfish” on the shoreline of the lagoon. Avoid stepping on them. After using please do not leave kayak at the edge of the lagoon but locate kayak next to the lanai outside and spray off kayak, oars and seats to remove salt water for next day’s use. All kayak equipment (oars, seats, safety belts) should be returned to the shed after each use. On departing please unplug plugs in middle of kayak, drawn chain through, lock and slide kayak under lanai. Also please rinse thoroughly the oars, seats and safety belts and return to the shed. Lock the shed.

9.     Snorkeling equipment (sizes are listed on the flippers), Air mattresses for children and adults, life safety vests for children, can be found in the closet on the lanai. Oars for kayak , seats for the kayak, safety belts for use with the kayak and two bicycles and bicycles pumps can be found in the shed on the side of the Island House. The shed key is on the extra key chain on the bulletin board with the key to the Island House. It is very important that all this water equipment used in the lagoon and at the beach in the sea be thoroughly rinsed after each use to eliminate their rapid deterioration from the salt water. Please return the snorkeling equipment to their cases after use. You can use the hose at the rear of the ramp. This equipment can be dried and stored on the back ramp or the lanai for the next day use. On your departure we would appreciate thoroughly rinsing all this equipment and returning the air mattresses for children and adults, life safety vests for children be rinsed and returned to the closet on the lanai

10.  Upon returning from the pool, please utilize the hose at the end of the rear walkway to remove your suntan lotion and rinse sand from feet or footwear. Wet towels and clothing can be hung over the chairs on the lanai or balcony’s.

11.  “Please do not utilize the furniture inside the house when bathing wear is wet or you have applied sun lotion. All the lanai furniture can be used whether or no you are wet or have sun lotion on.

12.  “Rum Point Beach” across the street is a public beach and you can utilize all of its facilities. The food is very good although a little expensive and water sport rental equipment available (Red Sail Sport facility) are very convenient. Snorkeling is best on the right side of the pier.

13.  You can make local calls on the island at no charge and make international call by using your US calling cards, credit card or collect by just calling 1-800-CALL-USA (1-800-255-5872)

14.  When leaving the house for a trip out of the Rum Point area, be sure to lock all doors, and turn off all lights and air conditioners.

15.  We have a gas grill that is located to the right of the rear ramp. The ignition switch works but if it doesn’t there is a long gas lighter in the top drawer next to the range in the kitchen. To get light to grill after the sun has gone down turn on the lights on the lanai. Light switch is on the wall in the dining room.

16.  Watching the beautiful Caribbean sunset from Rum Point Beach across the street is a fantastic experience each evening (Sunset is around 6:12 PM). It is important to remember that at dusk, the mosquito’s sand flies and “No See-UM’S” come out. Be kind to yourself and either leave right after the sun set or use bug bite resistance spray on the exposed parts of your skin. Skin spray is located in the utility room off the kitchen.

17.  Again, if you have any problems, questions or concerns please contact Thelda Whittaker, Managing Director or one of her associates at North Coast Resort Management, 1983 Rum Point Drive Cayman Kai, Grand Cayman. (Just down the street as you leave Rum Point on the right side of the street.) Phone: 345-947-9266. After hour number 947-1830 or 947-3057

18.  On your departure, please just leave the keys on the kitchen counter and lock the front door. Our management company will clean and secure the Island House after you have departed.

19.  We would really enjoy your comments on your stay at our Island House.  If possible, please email them to us after you return home. There are business cards next to the phone and fax machine with our email address- Barefoot Lagoon

We hope that this will be an enjoyable experience at Barefoot Lagoon and Grand Cayman and you enjoyed your stay. We hope you will join us again and refer our Island House to others.
